1922 - Established as Columbia Tent and Awning in Los Angeles, CA primarily manufacturing tents, awnings, and tarpaulins.
1945 - Harold Whittier purchased the firm, which is still family owned and operated today.
1960 - Gayne Whittier is made Vice President, son of Harold Whittier.
1965 - Started partnership in Mexico for custom contract sewing and manufacturing.
1968 - Columbia Tent and Awning was incorporated in the state of California.
1986 - Rick Whittier, grandson to Harold Whittier, becomes President.
1988 - Changed the name to CTA Manufacturing, Inc. a derivative taken from the first letters of the Columbia Tent and Awning name.
1996 - Moved to a new 22,000 sq ft. facility in Corona, California in order to help facilitate in-house prototyping, silkscreening, cutting, fulfillment, and customer inventory management.
1998 - CTA expands manufacturing capabilities with key partnerships in China, which lowers the cost of canvas fabrics such as denier, nylon, non woven polypropylene, and plastic hardware components.
2000 - Another important partnership is formed with factories in India in order to reduce the cost of cotton canvas products, such as messenger bags, mail bags, and shopping totes.
2006 - Jon Hansen is made Vice President of CTA Manufacturing, Inc.
2009 - New website is created to reflect the new company logo and tagline "Your Global Source for Custom Sewn Products". |
